Code Enforcement Presentation

A large group of CFOB members and their invited guests attended a presentation by Joanne Naumann, Ormond Beach Neighborhood Improvement Manager, on the subject of code enforcement. The economic situation with, empty businesses and foreclosed homes, makes this a topic of concern with our residents.

Joanne outlined the responsibilities of her department with a very informative power point presentation. She emphasized the wide scope of her job with the following statistics: 5020 Total inspections in 2009/2010 and 1188 signs removed or proceeded against.

She stressed the importance of citizen involvement, by noting that every complaint would be investigated by one of her three staff members. It is important to note that one of her staff must witness the infraction in person.

The program ended with a lively question and answer session. Members of the audience brought up a number of questions many of situations in their neighborhood that they felt needed attention. We were pleased to have had City Manager Joyce Shanahan in attendance who commented on several of the issues discussed.

Our thanks to city staff and Casement workers for all their cooperation in making this program a success.

If you have any questions about a code matter you can contact Joanne Naumann at:
